La Zona Hotelera de Cancún es muy segura para los turistas con alta presencia policial. El centro de la ciudad (Ciudad Cancún) requiere más precaución. Sigue los consejos de tu hotel, evita zonas desconocidas de noche y usa taxis autorizados.
5–7 días son ideales: 2–3 días en Cancún y sus playas, 1 día en Chichén Itzá, 1 día en Tulum (ruinas mayas y cenotes), 1 día en Playa del Carmen y un día para snorkel en el arrecife de coral o excursión a Isla Mujeres.
Diciembre–abril es la temporada seca y más agradable (24–30°C). Evita agosto–octubre (temporada de huracanes). La temporada de lluvias (mayo–noviembre) tiene precios más bajos pero mayor riesgo de tormentas tropicales.
Los cenotes del Yucatán son una experiencia única. Los más accesibles desde Cancún son los de Ik Kil (cerca de Chichén Itzá), Dos Ojos, Gran Cenote y Cenote Azul (cerca de Tulum). Hay tours organizados desde Cancún para visitar varios en un día.
Las playas de la Zona Hotelera, Chichén Itzá (Patrimonio UNESCO y Maravilla del Mundo), Tulum (ruinas mayas sobre el mar), los cenotes del Yucatán, Isla Mujeres (en ferri) y Playa del Carmen son imprescindibles.
No, no se recomienda beber agua del grifo en Cancún ni en ninguna parte de México. Bebe siempre agua embotellada o purificada. En los hoteles normalmente se proporciona agua potable. El hielo en restaurantes de hoteles y establecimientos turísticos es habitualmente seguro.
