Dubrovnik es muy segura para los turistas. La Ciudad Vieja amurallada, el paseo marítimo y todas las principales atracciones son seguros en todo momento. Croacia tiene una tasa de criminalidad muy baja.
2–3 días son suficientes para caminar las murallas, explorar la Ciudad Vieja, tomar el teleférico al monte Srđ, visitar las islas cercanas de Lokrum o Elafiti y disfrutar del mar Adriático.
Mayo–junio y septiembre–octubre son ideales: clima perfecto, aguas cálidas y muchos menos turistas que en julio–agosto. Evita el verano si puedes; la Ciudad Vieja se llena masivamente de cruceristas. El invierno es tranquilo pero encantador.
La Ciudad Vieja es completamente caminable (sin coches). Los autobuses públicos conectan el centro con las playas y el aeropuerto. Los ferris y catamaranes salen del puerto hacia las islas cercanas y Montenegro o Albania.
Las murallas de la Ciudad Vieja (vistas al mar Adriático), el Stradun (calle principal), el Fuerte Lovrijenac, el monte Srđ en teleférico, la isla de Lokrum y las playas de Banje y Lapad son experiencias imprescindibles.
Sí, la popularidad de Game of Thrones (filmada aquí como Desembarco del Rey) ha disparado el turismo. La alta temporada (julio–agosto) puede ser muy agobiante. Visita temprano por la mañana para disfrutar de la Ciudad Vieja sin multitudes o elige primavera/otoño.
