Dubrovnik è molto sicura per i turisti. La Città Vecchia murata, il lungomare e tutte le principali attrazioni sono sicuri in ogni momento. La Croazia ha un tasso di criminalità molto basso.
2–3 giorni sono sufficienti per camminare sulle mura, esplorare la Città Vecchia, prendere la funivia sul monte Srđ, visitare le vicine isole di Lokrum o Elafiti e godere del mare Adriatico.

La Città Vecchia è completamente percorribile a piedi (senza auto). Gli autobus pubblici collegano il centro con le spiagge e l'aeroporto. Traghetti e catamarani partono dal porto verso le isole vicine, il Montenegro o l'Albania.
Le mura della Città Vecchia (viste sul mare Adriatico), lo Stradun (via principale), il Forte Lovrijenac, il monte Srđ in funivia, l'isola di Lokrum e le spiagge di Banje e Lapad sono esperienze imperdibili.
Sì, la popolarità di Game of Thrones (girato qui come King's Landing) ha fatto schizzare il turismo. L'alta stagione (luglio–agosto) può essere molto opprimente. Visita di mattina presto per godere della Città Vecchia senza folla o scegli primavera/autunno.
