Gante es una ciudad muy segura para los turistas. El centro histórico, el barrio del Patershol y las principales atracciones son seguros durante el día y la noche. Es una ciudad universitaria tranquila con ambiente amigable.
1–2 días son suficientes para explorar el centro histórico de Gante: el Castillo de los Condes, la Catedral de San Bavón con el Retablo del Cordero Místico y el pintoresco canal de Graslei.
La primavera y el otoño son ideales con clima agradable y menos turistas que Brujas. El verano es vibrante con el famoso Festival de Gante en julio. El invierno tiene mercados navideños encantadores.
Gante está excelentemente conectada en tren: 30–35 minutos desde Bruselas y 25 minutos desde Brujas. Es un destino perfecto para hacer una excursión de un día o combinar con otras ciudades belgas.
El Castillo de los Condes (Gravensteen), el Retablo del Cordero Místico en la Catedral de San Bavón, el canal de Graslei al atardecer y el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo S.M.A.K. son imprescindibles.
Gante es más grande, más urbana y menos turística que Brujas. Tiene una vibrante vida universitaria, escena gastronómica innovadora y más diversidad cultural. Es más auténtica y menos masificada que Brujas.
