Medellín a radicalement transformé son image au cours des 20 dernières années. Les quartiers touristiques d'El Poblado et de Laureles sont sûrs et très populaires. Évitez les quartiers périphériques et les zones inconnues sans orientation locale. Utilisez Uber ou des taxis de confiance, surtout la nuit.
3–4 jours sont idéaux pour explorer El Poblado, le Parque Explora, le Jardin Botanique, le Metrocable vers les quartiers de montagne, le Pueblo Paisa et une excursion au proche Guatapé avec son spectaculaire Peñol.
Medellín bénéficie d'un climat de printemps éternel toute l'année (18–28°C) grâce à son altitude de 1 500 mètres. Décembre–mars et juillet–août sont légèrement plus secs. La Feria de las Flores en août est l'un des événements les plus spectaculaires de Colombie.
Le Metrocable est le système de téléphérique urbain de Medellín qui relie les quartiers de montagne au métro. Il a été essentiel dans la transformation sociale de la ville. Depuis les stations supérieures, les vues sont spectaculaires. La Bibliothèque España (Santo Domingo) et le Parque Arví sont des destinations phares.

Le métro et le Metrocable sont efficaces, sûrs et modernes. Uber fonctionne bien dans la ville. Les taxis sont nombreux mais utilisez des applications ou demandez-les à votre hôtel.
