Bali est généralement sûre pour les touristes. Les zones de Seminyak, Ubud, Canggu et Uluwatu sont très populaires et sûres. Faites attention aux scooters de location (principale cause d'accidents), aux courants marins sur certaines plages et aux vendeurs insistants.
7–10 jours sont idéaux pour explorer Ubud (culture et nature), les plages de Seminyak et Canggu, les falaises d'Uluwatu, les rizières de Tegallalang et faire une excursion au volcan Batur.
Avril–octobre est la saison sèche, idéale pour la plage et les activités de plein air. La saison des pluies (novembre–mars) connaît des averses fréquentes mais le paysage est plus vert et les prix plus bas. Ubud est visitable toute l'année.
De nombreux pays bénéficient d'un visa à l'arrivée (Visa on Arrival) de 30 jours en Indonésie, renouvelable pour 30 jours supplémentaires. Il existe aussi l'e-Visa Indonésie. Vérifiez les exigences selon votre passeport sur le site officiel de l'immigration indonésienne.
