Le Cap possède des zones très sûres et d'autres qui nécessitent de la prudence. Le front de mer (Waterfront), Camps Bay, Clifton, le centre historique et les environs de Table Mountain sont sûrs. Évitez les townships sans guide local, ne vous promenez pas la nuit hors des zones touristiques et utilisez des taxis de confiance.
4–5 jours sont idéaux : un jour pour Table Mountain et le centre, un jour pour la Péninsule du Cap (Cap de Bonne-Espérance, pingouins de Boulders Beach), un jour pour le Waterfront et le quartier Bo-Kaap, et du temps pour les plages de Camps Bay et Clifton.
Novembre–mars (été austral) offre le meilleur climat avec des températures de 25–30°C et des journées ensoleillées. Décembre–février est la haute saison. L'hiver (mai–août) est frais et pluvieux mais avec moins de touristes et des paysages plus verdoyants.
Les taxis via application (Bolt, Uber) sont les plus sûrs et recommandés. Le bus MyCiTi dessert le Waterfront, le centre et certaines plages. Louer une voiture est idéal pour la Route des Jardins et la Péninsule du Cap. Évitez les minibus si vous ne connaissez pas bien la ville.
Table Mountain (téléphérique ou randonnée), la Péninsule du Cap et Boulders Beach (pingouins africains), le quartier Bo-Kaap (maisons colorées), le V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay au coucher du soleil et le Musée de l'île Robben sont des expériences incontournables.
Les ressortissants de nombreux pays (UE, États-Unis, Royaume-Uni, etc.) n'ont pas besoin de visa pour des séjours allant jusqu'à 90 jours en Afrique du Sud. D'autres pays nécessitent un visa. Vérifiez les exigences sur le site officiel du Département des Affaires intérieures sud-africain selon votre passeport.
