Marrakech is generally safe but can be overwhelming. The Medina is bustling — watch for scooters and be firm with persistent vendors. Stick to main streets at night. Female solo travelers should dress modestly.
3-4 days is perfect. Day 1-2 for the Medina, souks, and palaces. Day 3 for Jardin Majorelle and the new city. Add a day for an Atlas Mountains or desert excursion.
Stay in a riad in the Medina for the authentic experience. The area around Jemaa el-Fnaa is central but noisy. Quieter riads in the northern Medina offer peace with proximity.
Marrakech is very budget-friendly. A riad room costs €30-60/night, meals €3-8, and taxis within the city €1-3. Haggle in the souks — start at 40% of the asking price.
Jemaa el-Fnaa square at sunset, the souks, Bahia Palace, Jardin Majorelle, a traditional hammam, and rooftop dining. Vloggers love getting lost in the Medina alleyways.
Petit taxi to the Medina takes ~15 minutes. Agree on 70-100 MAD before getting in. Some riads offer airport pickup for similar prices. No Uber — use local taxis.
