Cracovia è molto sicura per i turisti. Il centro storico, la Piazza del Mercato e il quartiere ebraico di Kazimierz sono sicuri in ogni momento. La Polonia ha un tasso di criminalità molto basso. Come sempre, fai attenzione ai borseggiatori nelle zone molto frequentate.
3 giorni sono ideali: il primo per il centro storico e la Collina di Wawel, il secondo per il quartiere di Kazimierz e la Fabbrica di Schindler, e il terzo per una visita ad Auschwitz-Birkenau (90 km).
Maggio–settembre offre il clima migliore con temperature di 18–25°C ed eventi culturali. L'estate può essere affollata. L'inverno è freddo ma il mercatino di Natale della Piazza del Mercato è considerato uno dei più belli d'Europa.
Sì, una visita ad Auschwitz-Birkenau è un'esperienza storica fondamentale. Il sito si trova a circa 90 km da Cracovia (1,5 ore in autobus o treno). Si raccomanda di prenotare una visita guidata in anticipo, soprattutto in estate quando la domanda è alta.
