Kotor è una delle città più sicure dell'Adriatico. Il Montenegro ha un tasso di criminalità molto basso e i turisti sono molto ben accolti. Il centro storico murato, il lungomare e le mura sono completamente sicuri in ogni momento.
1–2 giorni sono sufficienti per esplorare la Città Vecchia medievale, salire sulle mura per le viste spettacolari sulla baia, visitare la Cattedrale di San Trifone e fare escursioni in barca nella Baia di Kotor verso le isole e Perasto.
Maggio–giugno e settembre–ottobre sono perfetti: clima ideale (20–28°C), acque calde e molti meno turisti rispetto a luglio–agosto. L'estate è molto affollata con le navi da crociera. L'inverno è tranquillo e la città murata ha un fascino speciale.
Gli aeroporti più vicini sono Tivat (20 minuti) e Podgorica (90 minuti). Ci sono autobus da Dubrovnik (Croazia, 2,5 ore) e da altre città del Montenegro. Le navi da crociera si fermano frequentemente nella baia di Kotor in alta stagione.
La Città Vecchia medievale (Stari Grad) con la Cattedrale di San Trifone, la salita sulle mura medievali fino alla fortezza di San Giovanni (viste spettacolari), i borghi di Perasto e l'isola di Nostra Signora della Roccia, e la gita in barca nella baia sono imperdibili.
Assolutamente sì. Kotor dista solo 2,5 ore di autobus da Dubrovnik ed è molto meno turistica e più autentica. La Baia di Kotor è considerata il fiordo più meridionale d'Europa e offre paesaggi unici diversi dalla costa croata.
